Hello! I’d like to take you on a journey. A journey into the depths of what is possibly the most disturbing app ever to grace an iPhone screen.
It’s called Ingrown Toenail Removal. It’s an ‘educational’ app that teaches you how to remove an ingrown toenail.
It costs 99 cents.
I paid for it (but am totally claiming it on tax now).
This is the short (slightly less disturbing) version of what happened:Oh, fun! It’s like I’m the surgeon!Okay. A needle. That’s kind of gross.Oh God. What’s happening?OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD.*crying* *foetal position*
Seriously – that was the censored version. If you’re game, here is the longer, detailed (very Not Safe For Work and also Not Safe For Life) version of how the app works:
The app was designed by a company called Clearly Trained, who make a whole range of ‘You can be the doctor!’ type ‘games’. Some of their other hits include ‘Virtual Appendectomy’ and ‘Natural Childbirth’. Take a look:
Who the hell buys this stuff? Oh yeah, me. And I’ve already played it several times. I need help.
So, is this a sign that apps have officially gone too far? (Or are you secretly downloading the Ingrown Toenail Removal app as we speak?)
