You're mispronouncing 'Barbra Streisand'.

It has never bothered me when people pronounce my name wrong. Okay sure, I have one of the world’s easiest names to pronounce. But still, I’ll pretty much answer to anything.

Barbra Streisand, on the other hand, is not having a bar of it. If you butcher her name, you better believe she will take you down.

So how are we getting it wrong? Is it supposed to be Streisend? Straysand? Or is her name really Babbra?

This week on Mamamia Out Loud, we figured out the correct way to pronounce it.

The first to get it wrong was Apple.

Now we all know Siri has a habit of getting a little bit confused. No, I don’t want to find the nearest Pete’s shop. And she still struggles with the Aussie accent (the trick is to talk like an American, y’all.)

While the rest of us might have settled for a scathing Tweet, when our friend Babs found out Siri was saying her name wrong she took things to a whole new level.

‘I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally!’ she told NPR.

Apparently the rest of the world didn’t get the memo, because less than a week later, here we are again.

This time it was 60 Minutes host Michael Usher who copped a correction.

Channelling My Fair Lady in the promo, Babs give Usher a lesson in proper pronunciation.

Remember folks: it’s Streisand with a soft ‘S’. Just like ‘sand’. Okay? Not StreiZand.
