6 life hacks that will give you 30 minutes more in a day.

I am probably the most disorganised person in the world.

On a scale of ‘Type-A super organised personality’ to a ‘oh, crap, school photos are tomorrow’ personality I probably sit somewhere beyond the scale at ‘Oh – school photos were today were they?’

My family know me, affectionately, as ‘last minute Lisa’ (at least I think it’s affectionately).

So when it comes to time-saving life hacks I am your go-to woman. If there is a way to make something easier, cheaper or quicker then I want to know about it and once I had my kids I wanted to know about it even more.

For any like-minded sock-losing, microwave using, school-note-misplacing parents out there the following are my favourite six life hacks that I use to give me 30 minutes more every day.

1. Spray cooking oil in baking bowls before using them to save time on washing up.

I currently don’t have a dish washer (shock horror, I know) so I will use just about any method possible to save time on the dishes. I read this one and laughed but it seriously works. Especially for the last minute ‘school has a bake sale’ baking nights. Spray oil in the bowl, mix biscuit/cake/dough like normal and simply rinse out. No sticky mess that takes ages to scrub off.

2. Clean your bathroom while the kids have a bath.

I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this earlier but this amazing revelation has recently saved me hours of pain. I give the shower a once-over, the vanity a wipe and the floors a quick mop all while the kids are splashing away. Not only does it save time but it also saves water because the kids have splashed it all over the floor anyway. A wipe off the bath once and am out and done. Simple.

3. Let kids think they are in charge.

Instead of telling kids what to do, always give them options. Instead of saying, “Go put your shoes on,” and having yet another hour-long morning battle, ask a question that gives them options. “Do you want to wear your black shoes or your green shoes today?” It makes them think they are in charge and, as we all know, kids love feeling like they are in charge.

4. Make a game of cleaning up.

My mum invented this one. My kids hate cleaning up toys and it used to take them forever so she started timing them every time they tidied. My six year old loves aiming to beat his last time. I tried it this week and it worked a charm. Thanks Mum.

5. Use ironing alternatives.

While I can clean my clothes quickly I’m still left with the dreaded task of ironing. So once the clothes are dry I use two of my favourite non-iron ironing techniques. The first is using a hair straighter to iron small patches – don’t laugh it works. And the second is steaming clothes while I’m in the shower. Genius.

6. Use the quick wash cycle.

I used to waste so much time using long cycles on my washing machine. It was costing a fortune in water and electricity and took a ridiculous amount of time. Biozet Attack® Rapid laundry liquid is formulated specifically for short wash cycles. The fast acting Double Enzyme Bio-formula is great on Quick Wash, and you just need 19ml per wash - that’s less than a tablespoon. Time saving, energy saving, and money saving.

What do you do to get more time in your day?

Biozet Attack® Rapid is the only laundry liquid specifically formulated for the Quick Wash Cycle. It gives you faster and superior results than on a regular cycle, thanks to the fast acting Double Enzyme Bio-formula.

Make Quick Wash your everyday wash cycle with Biozet Attack® Rapid, and save time, energy, water and money with every wash.
