You know the warmer weather is just around the corner when David Jones kicks off its spring/summer fashion show.

More than 240 looks from Scanlan and Theodore, Camilla and Marc, Dion Lee, Romance was Born, Josh Goot, Christopher Esber, The Upside and Zimmerman were modelled, but the hottest look of the night went to Jessica Gomes, who opened the show in Manning Cartel.

The makeup artist responsible for directing the show, and Jessica’s killer smokey eye, was Shu Uemura’s International chief makeup artist, Mr. Yuji Asano.

He describes inspiration for her look as “French Riviera meets 60’s poolside Glamour.” It’s elegant, chic and above all sexy.

Jessica’s eyes were rimmed in black soft gel pencil, complimented with a soft sheer glow on the cheek and a thin layer of foundation over the lips to make her eyes the main focus.

To get her smokey eye look at home, Mr Asano only used two products on her lids: shu uemura Pressed Eyeshadow Shadow in M black 990, $22, which he smoked out in a circular motion over her lids, and shu uemura Soft Gel Pencil in black, $34 which he used along her top and bottom lash lines. He then curled Jessica’s lashes, and coated them in black mascara.

Now, summer? Bikinis? Pass me the salad.
