The 'Aussie legend' who did a good deed on live radio has become a national celebrity.

On Tuesday, the entire country bloody fell head over heels for a mysterious Aussie legend named James.

Now, less than 24 hours later, the man everyone wants to buy a beer for has been identified.

In case you’re a little behind, Hit Network’s Hamish and Andy accidentally unearthed this top Aussie bloke after a prank call yesterday.

It all kicked off when Hamish dialled a random number and posed as “Tim Bernard”, a nervous job-seeker in need of a rock-solid referee. The stranger on the other end happened to be a guy named James. And James was up to the task.

“Yeah sweet, I’ll just say I know you from way back,” said James. “I’ll say you’re a ripper bloke. I’ve got you covered.”

And that’s exactly what he did.

The video – which has been viewed more six million times – sparked a nation-wide scavenger hunt for the man so willing to help out a complete stranger.

That search proved fruitful. We GIVE YOU JAMES LORD.

Speaking to 101.9 The Fox, the 23-year-old electrician said it's been a crazy experience.

“Including this interview, I’ve had maybe ten interviews," he said.

"My phone’s been going off the rocker…I’ve had about, oh, 500 Facebook friend requests and maybe 100 inboxes – just saying, 'You’re a legend mate'."

But does the Lord agree with all the hype, and is he really that much of a good bloke?

“Yeah, I’d like to think I’m not a bad copper. Obviously, I’ll leave that up to the people who know me to decide.”

For any ladies hopeful of a date, we do have some bad news: The Lord is happily preoccupied with his girlfriend, you're gonna have to wait for the next viral sensation.
