4 new ways to style your hair in under 2 minutes.

While there were plenty of braids on the recent London Fashion Week catwalk, let’s face it: ain’t none of us really got time for that. Especially if you’d rather hit snooze eight times than spend 20 minutes doing your hair.

The ponytail has been our go-to upstyle ever since we were able to wrap a school colour endorsed hairband way back in primary school, but who doesn’t need a few new – and quick – ways to style our hair? If like me (and the rest of The Glow team), you’ve lopped your hair into a short bob, this is especially true. Because there is no way you can get your hair into a topknot anymore without it looking something like this:

Bad, huh? But don’t resign yourself to a terrible '90s half-up half-down hairstyle (unless that’s the look you’re going for), there are plenty of hair accessories you can use to up your hair game in 2015.

1. Leather

The hair accoutrements over at New York Fashion Week were all about leather. Influential designers like Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam and Carolina Herrera all sent models down the runway with leather hair accessories - from ponytail holders to headbands and wraps.

The eagle-eye trend spotters over at Lady Jayne must have seen this one coming. They’ve just released their Minimalist Leather collection, which includes textured black ponytail holders (love these), leather bobby slides, and headbands.

Because I know you’ll ask, this collection is available now at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, My Chemist and independent pharmacies nationwide for a limited time only. So be quick!

2. Simple barrettes and banana clips

Remember those tortoiseshell barrettes and banana clips back in the 90s? Well they’re back in – give or take a few modern updates. The look at Zimmerman this year was to take simple chic brooch into the top half (use a tail comb like this Lady Jayne Metal $4.99 one to achieve a clean look) of the hair.

Over at JW Anderson, things got a bit more retro with black banana clips used to hold messy chignons in place. But the best news is, using these simple hair accessories we're already familiar with makes these styles ones that you and I can easily replicate.

3. Bobby pins

Has there ever been a hair accessory as functional as it is decorative? Probably not. It’s just a pity you can never find a bobby pin when you need one, despite having bought at least 17 packets of them.

4. Curtain rings

Kidding. I’m not actually suggesting you put curtain rings in your hair, but if you can’t track down the ones used on the Dior Couture runway well then, you have to admit it’s a very economic option…
