Woman dead after being shot in head at Gold Coast McDonald's, gunman taken to hospital.

A woman is dead after being shot in the head at a McDonald’s restaurant at Helensvale on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Police declared an emergency situation at Siganto Drive at 9:15am.

A man, who is known to the woman, has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

His condition is listed as serious.

No-one else was injured.

Hine Paki was nearby when the shootings happened and said the restaurant staff were visibly shaken.

“I’ve only seen the workers come out all shocked up and terrified,” she said.
