A love letter to Australia's most underrated TV show.

Deep in the Netflix backlog, there lies a catalogue of shows over which we continuously pass our weary eyes.

They’re certainly not new. But they’re more than noteworthy. Glitch is one of those shows.

Aussie legend Patrick Brammall – of Offspring fame – plays James Hayes, a policeman called out to an incident at the local cemetery: six people have inexplicably risen from the dead.

They’re not zombies. This isn’t sci-fi/horror. The grave-risers are completely alive… and in perfect health.

Laura Brodnik explains why Glitch is Australia’s most underrated TV show on The Binge. (Post continues after audio.)

Tiffany Dunk, guest host of Mamamia‘s podcast The Binge, likens it a little bit to one of her favourite shows of all-time – Lost.

“[Glitch sees] a bunch of strangers thrown together. You learn individually about their backstories through flashbacks, and through other devices. There’s an overriding supernatural element of ‘what is the island’… It’s really clever,” Dunk explains.

As any television geeks would know… a comparison to Lost is just about the highest praise any supernatural/drama could be possibly be afforded.

“Patrick Brammall is just phenomenal in this role. He gives such depth to it… it adds to the mystery,” Dunk adds.

According to Laura Brodnik, host of The Binge, it might even be the "most underrated Australian drama of all time".

On the 23rd January 2017, the ABC distributed an exciting media release:

"ABC is pleased to announce that filming is underway in Melbourne on the highly anticipated second season of the award-winning paranormal drama Glitch."

Aussie actor Rob Collins (Cleverman, The Wrong Girl) will be joining the cast in the upcoming season.

“We left our audience with so many questions at the end of the first series. Season 2 is our chance to answer some of these questions, whilst further exploring the confusing, messy and joyous miracle of being given a second chance at life,” said Tony Ayres, series creator, Matchbox Pictures.
