There was a scream. Then this 12-year-old saved her little sister from abduction.

A 12-year-old in the US has fought off a carjacker and saved her younger sister from being abducted after their mum left the car to assist victims of a road accident.

Maddie Weiler, 12, and her younger sister Mollie, seven, were driving with their mother to Busch Gardens in Florida when they saw a car accident and stopped to assist.

The girls’ mum, Brandie, got out of the car to see if anyone needed help or urgent medical assistance.

As she dialled emergency services, the man responsible for causing the crash – who was later charged with dangerous driving under the influence of drugs – allegedly climbed into the car with both her daughters.

According to Williamsburg Police, Paul Salsman put his hand through the window and unlocked the door. He’s also been charged with attempted carjacking.

Brandie screamed. Too far away to stop him.

Molly likely started to cry.

Maddie went berserk. She fought off their carjacker. She hit and kicked and screamed and little Molly ran free.

Would you let a stranger drive your kids? Post continues below.

“I just went for it. Nothing passed my mind except ‘he is a psycho and he needs to get out of the car’,” Maddie told Fox News after the incident. “I thought he was going to take us.”

The girls’ mother, Brandie, said she was terrified of Salsman driving away with her children.

“I could see him going towards the van and I’m screaming. Once I saw Mollie out, I screamed for Maddie to get out,” Brandie said.  “She was too busy beating the guy to realise her sister was out.”

Maddie’s response was so forceful, she’s now nursing a fractured wrist and her father couldn’t be more proud.

“She has always been told if anyone tries to take you – scream, kick, bite, hit, gouge out their eyes, do whatever you have to do.”

You go, girl.
