1. Girl, 13, dies in rodent-infested home after begging to be taken to hospital.

A young girl who died from an asthma attack in her “putrid” home in Illawarra, NSW, begged to be taken to hospital but was ignored, according to The Daily Telegraph.

A coronial inquest uncovered the events leading up to the 13-year-old’s death on April 26 in 2014, which included her calling for authorities to clean her rodent-infested home, The Daily Telegraph reports.

Her parents said they came home from the pub to find their daughter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, “yelling and crying” for her asthma puffer.

The “morbidly obese” girl reportedly asked her parents to take her to the hospital, but her dad “went back to his garage bed and removed his hearing aids”.

It is understood her mother did not help either and at 7am the next day the young girl was found “slumped over … and not breathing”.

The coronial inquest found that the teenager would have lived if she’d been taken to the hospital and also that Family and Community Services failed to have her rescued from her abusive home.

The Daily Telegraph also reports the disgusting state of her NSW Housing home was overridden by mice, covered in mould and had waist-high lawns.

Family and Community Services made 19 reports of abuse during the girl’s life, five of which were closed due to “competing priorities”.

One made in June 2013 said the girl had “very poor hygiene”.

“Wearing the same clothes for months on end, smells terribly, menstruating through clothes,” it read.

2. Trump hits back at Women’s March protesters.

Donald Trump has hit back at protesters who marched against him during his presidential inauguration on the weekend.

The US president sent a tweet implying that the thousands who turned out in cities across the US did not vote, adding that celebrities impinged their efforts.

“Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn’t these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly,” he tweeted.

However, two hours later Mr Trump added that he respected the marchers right to protest.

3. Teenage girl found her mum “having sex with her classmates”.

A mum has been charged after her teenage daughter says she caught her having a threesome with her classmates.

Florida woman, Jaimie Ayer crashed her daughter’s party on December 23, where she allegedly plied the group of teenagers with alcohol before engaging in sex with at least two of them, the Bay News reports.

“Jamie continued to socialise and drink with the minors, eventually telling a boy that she needed to shower and that he should come help her,” police files read.

The 40-year-old allegedly took the boy into a bedroom before another teenager joined them.

Her daughter told police she walked in on her mother taking part in sex acts with the 16-year-old and 17-year-old.

The mother is facing five charges of unlawful sexual activity with minors in Bradenton, Florida, and is being held at Manatee County Jail.

4. Woman injured and her pet chihuahua killed in a hit-and-run smash.

A woman underwent surgery after she was struck by a driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed her pet chihuahua in Sydney’s west on Saturday night.

The 28-year-old woman was walking her dog through a nearby park and was hit by a black car as she tried to cross Bungarribee Road in Blacktown around 9.30pm.

She was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries where she is now recovering.

Police searching for a 2007 black Mazda CX 7 and the driver responsible for the attack.

5. Victoria’s bail laws under review after Bourke Street tragedy.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced a sweeping review into the state’s bail laws this morning following the Bourke Street Mall tragedy.

An after-hours Magistrates Court will also be established, Mr Andrews said.

The man accused of killing five people in Bourke St on Friday, Dimitrious “Jimmy” Gargasoulas was bailed against the wishes of Victoria Police five days before Friday’s attack.

A Change.org petition calling for the State Government to alter bail laws gathered more than 69,000 signatures in two days.

Michael Wilson’s petition said that appropriate changes to the law needed to be made “to ensure repeat violent offenders are not given bail prior to their day in court”.

6. Mothers and their newborns evacuated after fire in Perth hospital breaks out.

Patients were evacuated from a hospital in northern Perth on Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out in one of the wards, Perth Now reports.

Parents and infants were among those forced to flee St John of God hospital in Mt Lawley after heavy smoke from the fire was detected.

Firefighters quickly controlled and extinguished the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
