If George Clooney isn't getting married this weekend, he's done a lot of fake paperwork...

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

Is George Clooney actually getting married in London on September 12, as was announced by Us Weekly earlier this week?

We do not know. But we do know this:

If George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are not getting married this weekend, they have certainly done something to convince the world that they are.

The couple have applied for a Certificate of No Impediment at London’s Chelsea Town Hall, which is a certificate that confirms there are no objections to a couple’s marriage, and stops any pesky wedding invitees from being able to do this:

But – plot twist! – despite applying for the certificate at Chelsea Town Hall, it seems unlikely that the pair will be married at that location. Mainly because there’s a big sign up outside the front door that says ‘GO AWAY CRAZED FANS AND PAPARAZZI, WE ARE JUST TRYING TO REGULATE RUBBISH BINS AND ORGANISE LIBRARY ACTIVITIES FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS IN PEACE’ (or something to that effect).

MailOnline have learnt that the pair are actually planning to celebrate their nuptuals at Danesfield House in Buckinghamshire, which is where Amal grew up.

Note that this hypothesis can co-exist with the second limb of Us Weekly‘s prediction that the pair would marry in London and then hold a big party in Venice on September 27.

And that, friends, is everything we know.

Now, let’s all pretend that we don’t care that this gorgeous specimen is marrying the intelligent, beautiful love of his life.

Nope. Don’t care one bit.
