1. Trolls blast a beautiful picture of gay dads.

Lindsay Foster posted the below photo of 2 gay dads holding their newborn son to her Facebook page with the comment:

Words can not tell you how wonderful it was to witness this amazing moment in time. But I am VERY hopeful that these images can make you feel the deep LOVE and admiration that everyone felt for this surrogate mom and the baby’s new parents. These Daddies will most certainly be two amazing parents.

It inspired supportive comments. But it also inspired hatred. This is a sample of some of the comments:

2. She ran 800 metres...while 34 weeks pregnant.

Twenty-eight year old, Alysia Montano, 5-time national champion, ran the 800 metres in the US Track and Field Championships in 2:32.  And she was 34 weeks pregnant.

"I've been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process," Montano told the Huffington Post. "I just didn't want to get lapped and be the first person to get lapped in the 800." While she was reportedly at the back of the pack, she was no where near being lapped.

Doctors gave the okay for Montano to run. "That took away any fear of what the outside world might think about a woman running during her pregnancy. What I found out mostly was that exercising during pregnancy is actually much better for the mom and the baby...I did all the things I normally do... I just happened to be pregnant. This is my normal this year."

3. Mum replaces formula with cordial and the baby suffers life-threatening seizures.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a mother couldn't afford to buy her infant formula. So she fed her cordial instead. Causing the 6-month-old to have life-threatening seizures and being rushed to a hospital in Coffs Harbour.

The incident was detailed in a medical journal outlining the little girl had been fed formula since she was 5 weeks old. It has GPs and breastfeeding advocates angry that mums are being pushed to using formula too soon without knowing the risks.

Paediatric registrar Rakel Hansen noted this was the first incident of this nature in Australia. "Water intoxication" accourding to Susan Moloney, a paediatrician with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians is when children or adults consume too much water with too few nutrients.

4. One of the Bali Nine is engaged.

Scott Rush, 28, has proposed to his girlfriend, London banker Nikki Butler who is 38-year-old mother of two.

Rush and Butler met for just one day in 2005 before he was arrested for strapping 1.3 kg of heroin and smuggling it into Bali. According to reports, Butler lost touch with Rush, but reunited with him in April after she recognised him on British TV. It was on their second face to face visit that Rush proposed.

"Nikki, I love you and you love me. I think we can have a happy ending. Will you marry me?" he proposed according to The Sunday Telegraph.

Butler told The Sunday Telegraph, "I love him. I know the person Scott really is and he is really, really beautiful person."

The couple are hoping Rush's life imprisonment sentence will be reduced to 10-15 years.

5. Nigella Lawson's ex-husband is selling paintings of her being strangled.

Charles Saatchi, 71, is selling artistic impression of the moment he was photographed grabbing the next of his then-wife, Nigella Lawson. For as much as AU$10,600.

The images, ranging from the detailed to the amateur, have appeared on SaatchiArt.com – and cost anywhere between £150 and tens of thousands of dollars. The works have been submitted to the website by the artists themselves, who upload their work and receive 70 percent of the asking price – while the website receives 30 per cent of the cost of the sale.

Not surprisingly, Saatchi has defended the sale of the works, saying he did not commission the artwork . He told The Mail on Sunday, “Would it have been a better story if I had censored artists whose work might be personally disobliging?”

54-year-old Lawson became the focus of worldwide media attention after Saatchi's attack on her and was dragged through the courts in the aftermath of their split.

6. More pregnant women using the drug Ice.

Hospitals in Victoria are noticing an increase in newborns being affected by their mothers' Ice (or crystal methamphetamine) use while pregnant. The Herald Sun reports that 15 newborns at the Royal Women's Hospital were born to woman who used the drug while they were pregnant.

Babies whose mother use Ice are left floppy, irritable and suffering tremors. Manager of the hospitals Women's Alcohol and Drug Service, Theresa Lynch told the Herald Sun, "It’s important to remember that these are small numbers to begin with, but our service has seen an increase from 10 pregnant women using ice in 2012 to 15 pregnant women using ice in 2013."
