If you’ve ever tried to track down a pair of boots or a stunning dress that a celebrity or someone in the street is wearing, there’s now an app for that.
Last year, we brought you the news that a fashion Shazam app is on its way. And friends, we’re happy to report that day is here. So, now instead of style-stalking from afar, we can do it from the safety of our smartphones.
This is either a genius or terrible idea. Or maybe both.
Fashion app Trendabl has just added a new element that allows you to click a ‘Find It’ button and find a shoppable version of it online.
So that printed jumper you’re lusting after? One click and you can shop it straightaway. Well, unless it happens to be Givenchy…and a cool $2,395. Sigh.
If you haven’t heard about Trendabl, it allows you to upload photos of clothes straight from your phone. You can follow your friends as well as celebrities, fashion magazines, brands, bloggers and websites. And now, you can also Shazam.
However, not everyone is on board with the idea. Anthony O’Dell from Style Democracy writes:
While street style already plays a big role in influencing people’s personal style for better or worse, imagine if you could buy the other persons entire outfit…
We’d have little replicas of Nick Wooster & Anna Dello Russo everywhere (which gives me nightmares just thinking about it!).
With limited copyright laws already in place on the design side of the industry, the last thing the industry needs is people buying their entire outfits based on Tommy Ton’s latest shots.
Well, we’ll always have Normcore.

They should make it recognize a fake.
I can't imagine this working well. But I'll test it out for fun. I suspect it will only work on expensive designer labels.
My first thought. Its only going to tell you the luxury brand items.
