George Michael's partner was sleeping in his car the night the singer died.

George Michael’s partner says he was asleep in his car the night the singer died of unknown causes.

Fadi Fawaz told UK outlet The Mirror that he found the 53-year-old’s body when he visited his Oxfordshire home on Christmas morning, but had not been with him the previous evening.

“I fell asleep in my car and I never saw him that night,” he said. “The police know everything. That’s the most important thing.”

It’s unclear why the couple spent the night apart.

Fawaz’s revelation comes amid claims his Twitter account was hacked and false details posted about Michael’s death.

A flurry of posts from the hair stylist’s now-deleted account indicated his partner of eight years had died by suicide.

“Not sure who that nasty close friend of George but i was in relationship with george micheal till i found him dead in bed” [sic], one read.

“The only thing George wanted is to DIE. He tired numbers of time to kill himself many times. And finally he managed.” [sic]

The 40-year-old told The Mirror he wasn't responsible for the tweets.

“I am shocked with what’s going on with the Twitter thing," he said.

“My Twitter account has been hacked and closed. It’s a bit scary to be honest. I did not send those tweets. I woke up at 11.30am to the news.

Results of post-mortem on the former Wham! member proved "inconclusive" it was announced on Friday.

Further tests are due to be carried out, the results of which are not expected for several weeks.

In the meantime, British authorities continue to treat Michael's death as 'unexplained but not suspicious'.
