She protects her privacy with more ferocity than a lioness guarding her cub. But actress Eva Mendes has officially joined Instagram, posting the cutest throwback photo to mark her debut.
The Hollywood star shared a grainy photo from her childhood 38 years ago – a photo that may have given us a sneak peak of what her six-month-old daughter, Esmeralda Amada Gosling, might look like in a few years.
The picture shows a smiling Eva, who is now 41, dressed all in pink, wearing a bandanna in her hair and mini brown cowboy boots.
"Taking to Instagram to keep you posted on my clothing line for @nyandcompany and CIRCA Beauty (@realcircabeauty), a cosmetics line I have coming out at Walgreens. I thought this picture might be a good way to start. 38 years later and still holding strong on the head wrap comeback," the photo caption reads.
The Fast and Furious star, who already has more than 100,000 Instagram followers, is one of the most private celebrities in Hollywood. She kept her pregnancy a secret for about seven months and has not allowed a single photo of baby Esme to be leaked to the media. Even in interviews, Eva barely speaks about her three-year relationship with actor Ryan Gosling.
"I believe there is a public self and a private self," she told Women's Health magazine recently.
"My sisters and my good friends are experiencing that now with Facebook and Instagram. When they freak out about a friend of theirs posting a bad picture of them, I'm like 'Well imagine how I feel! Get used to it!'."
Welcome, Eva, to the world of Instagram. We hope it's a sign some photos of baby Esme are soon to follow...
