Very mild super powers: are you a sort-of superhero?

Like this. But milder.

Can you walk into a kitchen you’ve never been in before and locate exactly where the knives and forks are kept?

I wasn’t bitten by a radioactive secretary, but I have an unnerving ability to predict when I am about to get an email. It’s a gift.

I can also pre-empt the buzz of a microwave right before my meal ends and am developing the same senses for the prediction of when my toast will pop.

And that’s the beauty of it.

Being a supehero is a full-time gig mostly. Listening to police scanners to find distressed people to rescue or crimes to foil and gangs to intimidate. Not to mention the prohibitive requirements of actually having a superpower like flight or spiderweb-wrists in the first place.

There’s a brilliant simplicity, however, in having a very mild superpower with none of the responsibility.

Like getting all tingly when you know a light bulb in your home is about to blow or stuffing envelopes at the Post Office just below the maximum weight limit without even checking.

Comedian David O’Doherty knows all about this because he’s a sometimes superhero. A man of diluted powers. He coined the ‘very mild superpowers’ term. Check it out:
