The best and worst beauty from the 2014 Dally M red carpet

The  Dally M’s are the biggest (okay, basically the only) red carpet event in Australian rugby league. And that means Sydney’s finest WAGs were out in force on the red carpet – hello Jodi Anasta and Self-Professed Queen of the WAGS Lisa Wilkinson.

And yes, they did outshine their Rugby Player other halves. A handful of celebrities also made an appearance – including songstress Jessica Mauboy and Olympic hurdler Sally Pearson.

We spoke to Benefit’s Makeup Director, who was on hand painting faces at the Dally M’s, Hannah Terrett, about the most requested beauty looks.

We had a mix of different looks, ranging from a really bold, dramatic smoky eye to a more youthful, dewy softer finish. We had a couple of bold lips but predominantly we had more of a request for smoky eye looks last night.”

If you want to WAG it up at home, Hannah suggests starting with a primer for oily skin (to ensure your makeup doesn’t slide off half way through the day/night) as a base for your foundation to hang onto.

“We do a really good priming session before applying any foundation,” she explains.

If you’re going for a very heavy eye look, you should also prime your lids separately. “We also used our Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows to really make their eye colours pop.”

Hannah’s favourite look of the night belonged to WAG Brooke Gidley who wore a sparkling, floor length gown and bronzed, natural makeup.

“She looked beautiful, she had a really gold, glamorous ballgown dress and she had a cute little baby bump sticking out too. She had the dewy, just barely there look but hit in all the right places… a dew lip, shine on the cheeks, and we used the sunbeam bronzer to really intensify the glow of her skin.”
