Whipped, burned, bitten, beaten. Geelong woman suffers horrific assault.

A 23-year-old man has fronted court over a shocking torture case in Victoria, in which a woman was beaten, whipped, burned and bitten, before having curry powder poured into her open wounds.

According to The Geelong Advertiser, police have described the attack as one of the worst assaults of a woman they’ve ever seen.

Shannon Nolan appeared in Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury, false imprisonment and assault with weapons.

His lawyer did not apply for bail.

Emergency services were called to a Geelong caravan park last week where they found the victim with extensive injuries to nearly every part of her body. Among them were cuts, teeth marks, evidence of whipping and scalds, believed to be caused by boiling water.

Police have alleged that curry powder was found inside some of the wounds.

During yesterday’s filing hearing, the court heard that Nolan was relocating to Victoria from the Northern Territory, reports The Geelong Advertiser.

His lawyer asked the court to note that her client suffers mental health problems and has been withdrawing from the drug ice.

Nolan was remanded in custody and is due to face court again on September 16.
