Illusionist Criss Angel rushed to hospital after stunt went wrong.

A magician performing in a Las Vegas show has reportedly been rushed to hospital after a straitjacket escape trick went wrong, leaving him dangling upside down.

The illusionist Criss Angel suffered the performance malfunction during his Las Vegas Mindfreak Live Friday night show.

According to TMZ, Angel was just 10 minutes into his opening act which included the trick that he has performed many times before, making his way out of a straitjacket while being suspended upside down by his ankles.

But after two minutes of struggling to break free, he was lowered onto the stage at the Luxor Hotel and the curtains were closed, with the website reporting that he appeared to be unconscious as the audience were ushered out.

He is said to have been taken to a nearby hospital, but discharged the same night.
