The woman in Craig McLachlan's life.

On Monday morning, 52-year-old, actor, singer and composer Craig McLachlan was accused by multiple women of indecent assault and sexual harassment in an extensive joint investigation by Fairfax and the ABC.

In an email to Fairfax media, the Gold Logie winner has strongly denied any misconduct occurred, speculating, “they seem to be simple inventions, perhaps made for financial reasons, perhaps to gain notoriety”.

Notoriously private about his personal life, he has rarely spoken publicly about his long-term partner, Vanessa Scammell.

The pair met while working on the musical production of Chicago in 2009.

Scammell is a conductor and musical director, who has worked for some of the country’s most prominent artists including Kate Ceberano, Barry Humphries, Lisa McCune and The Wiggles.

McLachlan has been married twice, the first time to his high school girlfriend Karen Williams.

They wedded when McLachlan was 21 years old and Williams a year older. The couple divorced not long after.

On the set of Neighbours, McLachlan met fellow actress Rachel Friend, and – for the second time – fell in love.

They lived together for a number of years, before marrying in 1998.

McLachlan then landed the role of Danny Zuko in Grease, and the pair moved to London together. Just 18 months later, 25-year-old Rachel moved back home, and the pair filed for divorce.

He told New Idea magazine a few years after their break up, There’s nothing I miss about marriage… having been single for a while and working like a dog, my career’s in good shape.”

It was then he met Charlotte Avery, a British actress best known for her role in EastEnders. They had a child together named Jacob, who is now 17 years old and lives with his mother in the UK.

Today, The Wrong Girl actor and star of ABC’s The Doctor Blake Mysteries, lives with his Australian partner, Scammell.
