Your favourite 90s beauty product is baaaack.

Matte brown lipstick, CK One, silver eyeshadow, Fudge hair wax, Poppy lip shine. These are all synonymous with the 90s, but there’s one more beauty comeback that is pegged to be huge in 2015.

Coloured mascara. It’s been threatening to become a thing for years now. Luxury brands Dior and YSL both released small colour ranges of their best mascaras more than two years ago.

But when I attended a 2015 trend presentation for L’Oreal last month, I was delightfully surprised that one of their key launches for this year is coloured mascara. (I wasn’t the only beauty editor who nearly squealed).

Their newbie, Miss Manga Mega Volume mascara, comes in three punchy pop of colour: blue, violet, turquoise – along with black. And since L’Oreal do not do anything lightly, this means coloured lashes will truly take off this year.

How to wear 90s makeup in 2014.

We won’t be dropping our brow gel anytime soon, but you can stop lusting after those Delevingne brows. 2015 is set to be all about big doll-like lashes. This is good news for anyone who is still trying to grow out their over-plucked Drew Barrymore brows.

I still love you Drew!

If you think you’re too old to wear coloured mascara, stop right there. I’m 35 and I'm still doing it. The day I wore it into the office (this was pre-lash extensions) everyone immediately had to know what it was and where they could buy it.

I even think that sophisticated colours like plum, brown, and dark green look even better (and less harsh) than black mascara on those of us 50 plus.

So which colour suits you best? There are no rules, but generally the best ones for your eye colour are blue for blue, green for green and brown for brown. But don’t let that turn you off experimenting and having some fun with it.

If you have blonde or light brown lashes you’ll see more pop of colour with bright mascaras, but if your lashes are quite dark, you’ll get the most effective look from a navy or plum.

Of course Cara Delevingne is all over the coloured mascara trend.

Blue eyes: navy, violet and brown.

Brown eyes: blue, brown and green.

Hazel eyes: midnight and plum.
