Red wine on a white shirt. Ink stains on trousers. Ladders in stockings.
Casual wear and tear happens every day to our clothes – and to some items more than others (white shirts are always a casualty). But they can be fixed easier than you think, and often with something you already have at home.
1. Use permanent marker to cover bleach stains on black clothing.
There's nothing worse than a splattering of bleach on a black top. But it's easily fixed. Simply use a permanent marker to colour in the stain and your black top is practically as good as new.
2. Use white wine and baking soda to remove red wine stains.
Wearing white and drinking red? You're bound to end up with a big splodge on your shirt. Thankfully it can be easily fixed. Grab some white wine (yes, really) and pour around a cup in to a bowl. Add a spoonful of baking powder and make a paste, then simply apply the paste to the stain and leave it on for two hours. Then wash the shirt as usual.
3. Use hairspray to remove ink and lipstick stains from clothes.
Simply spray the hair spray onto the stain, and then rub with a damp cloth until the stain is removed.
4. Use Windex to remove stains and hide scratches on Patent leather.
Instead of forking out $20 on patent leather cleaner, use Windex. The glass cleaner can be used to clean patent leather shoes and bags.
5. Use lemon juice to remove armpit odours on shirts.
If your T-shirt has a built-up smell in the armpit, rub some lemon juice on it and let it sit for a few hours. Then put it in the washing machine as normal. If odours have turned to stains, add some baking powder to the lemon before plastering it on the yellowish fabric.
