It is possible to make Valentines Day chocolates in under 30 minutes.

Adding a bit of bit of sweetness to your Valentines Day doesn’t have to come via $200 worth of long-stemmed roses.

There are ways to show your partner you care without blowing the budget, buying a stuffed bear or bothering yourselves with gridlocked restaurants.

The recipe allows for any kind of chocolate to be used, so you can customise it to your partner’s tastes.

It hasn’t been tested on carob or vegan chocolate, but if you have experience with melting and re-setting, give our method a go.

Choose candies that aren't too big or too soft.

Ingredients:

A simple milk, dark or white chocolate block.

Small lollies or sprinkles.

Silicone moulds allow you to easily remove the chocolates without breaking their shape.

Method:

The basic idea is that you purchase some novelty silicone ice-trays, place a hard candy inside each tray space, melt chocolate over a low-heat and then pour it into the moulds until they're full.

The trays can then be placed in the fridge until they harden. It took our test batches around fifteen to twenty minutes.

Valentines Day may be painfully commercialised, but there is no shame in indulging with something as harmless as a special treat.
