A child destroyed $1400 worth of makeup in Sephora and the photos are burning our eyes.

Serious makeup lovers know there’s nothing quite like walking into Heaven Sephora and being greeted by the sight of rows and rows of perfectly placed beauty displays.

It’s just like a candy store, except everything is brighter and much, more expensive. And not edible, of course.

That’s why, if you’re a beauty fanatic,  you really should look away now.

Because one such display was destroyed in mere moments by an unaccompanied child.

Yep, 52 palettes of shadow – by brand Make Up Forever and valued at around US$21 each – destroyed.

That means almost US$1100 (AU$1450) worth of makeup obliterated.

Never to grace the lids of someone on a Saturday night ever again.

The ruined display was noticed and photographed by makeup artist Brittney Nelson, who was greeted by the sight upon entering her local Sephora store in the US state of Georgia.

“$1300 of Make Up Forever eye shadow destroyed at Sephora tonight due to a small child,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I’m sure he/she thought they were like finger paints and had no idea how naughty they were being. Tons of destroyed product and pissed Sephora cast members are a not a happy place to be.

"Mammas, please shop for your makeup without your tiny humans. It's not fun for you...or them...or the expensive product."

Brittney added that on the occasions she's had to bring her daughter into a store with her, she implements a strict "hands in pockets" rule and sets herself a 10 minute limit.

"It was very helpful so if you must take your kiddos makeup shopping I suggest trying it," she said.

Makeup fans were, unsurprisingly, pretty upset upon seeing the images.

But one beauty fan suggested we were missing the point, and should be praising the tiny terror who created such a... masterpiece.

Destroying the patriarchy, one expensive eyeshadow palette at a time... We can stomach that.

Of course, this isn't the first time a curious kiddo has gotten their hands on an expensive bit of face paint and gone COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY ROGUE.

Last year, a woman tweeted that her niece couldn't resist the delightful smell of her $50 eyeshadow palette so she... well, she put it in her mouth.

"My niece ate my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette because it smells like chocolate I don't know if I should cry or laugh," Lauren Rincon tweeted.

Luckily, Lauren was able to salvage most of her beloved eyeshadow kit with "a million q-tips and napkins".

Lucky for Sephora we have similar clever instructions on how to save a shattered makeup compact, which may come in handy for cleaning up this little one's mess.
