Morning video: Charter for compassion

Today is the celebration of  the one-year anniversary of the Charter of Compassion. The Charter  is the brainchild of Karen Armstrong, who won the TED prize in February 2008.  The TED  prize,  is awarded annually to an individual within one of the fields of Technology, Entertainment or Deign. The winner receives $100 000 and one ‘wish’ to change the world.

Armstrong who is a former Roman Catholic, left a British convent to pursue a degree in modern literature at Oxford. Her wish was as follows:

“I wish that you would help with the creation, launch and propagation of a Charter for Compassion, crafted by a group of leading inspirational thinkers from the three Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and based on the fundamental principles of universal justice and respect.”
