Carrie's emotional farewell to Charlie

Carrie Bickmore has delivered a heartfelt farewell to her The Project co-host Charlie Pickering, during his final episode of the show…

After five years behind the desk as a host of popular news show The Project, last night Charlie Pickering, 36, said goodbye to the show.

Close friend and the only original remaining co-host, Carrie Bickmore, 33, was openly devastated by the news and said goodbye to Charlie last night through tears.

Carrie reminisced about how they started on the show together as “the ring-ins and five years later, here we are.” She went on to thank him for supporting her over the years:

“Thank you for your quick wit, passion, integrity and ability to suck someone into a debate…Thank you for holding my hand through some incredibly difficult times professionally and personally…and for making me laugh like no one else.”

Charlie, who is set to become a first time father, has said in his personal goodbye to the show that he considers “every moment that I’ve been on air to be an absolute privilege” and is looking forward to having “dinner at a regular time” with his wife.

When asked who he was going to miss most on the show, Charlie answered in a heartbeat ‘Carrie’, adding:

“She’s one of my best friends, and just the most extraordinary person I’ve ever worked with.”

Carrie will continue to host The Project alongside Steve Price and Peter Helliar.
