A woman has been found dead after a house fire at Caroline Springs in Melbourne’s west.

Emergency services were called to the house in Pro Hart Way shortly after 9:30pm on Thursday.

It took about one hour for Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Country Fire Authority crews to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters discovered the woman’s body inside the home.

Another occupant of the house was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

Police said the woman’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

“At this stage the fire’s under investigation.” Senior Sergeant Adam Beauliv said.

A cat and dog inside the house also needed to be seen by a vet.
