The baby names (maybe) guaranteed to give you a calm baby.

We are sure that if you give your baby one of these names… they will be calmest babies ever.

It almost feels as though you’re sitting beside a trickling lake with a glass of pink champagne in hand as you say these names. They’re tranquil, serene, peaceful. Everything most newborns are not.

So if a name can draw you back into that picture of peace, even just for a moment, we say go for it. Name your child champagne if it helps.

Or choose one of these:

Dove

The dove is the symbol of peace, and this soft-sounding name of a soft cooing bird is one of the trendiest (and most tranquil) avian names. Names like Eagle and Crow didn't make the list because naming your child something that is deadly/steals shiny things is just setting them up for disaster.

Frederick

Frederick and twin sister Frederica share the meaning of ‘peaceful ruler’ and are classics that have begun to lose their former starchiness, in part at least due to friendly nickname Freddie. Just don't call your child Freddo. You don't need to be reminded of chocolate anymore than you have to be.

Galen

The unisex Galen, has the meaning of ‘calm’ and ‘healer’. It is very important that when you choose this name you spell it correctly. Or you may end up with Gollum - that creepy hairless Hobbit who likes to mutter "my precious" in Lord of the Rings. Not so peaceful.

Humphrey

Depending on whether your children were raised in the noughties or during an earlier time where Humphrey B Bear populated the TV screen will determine whether you think this name is a good idea/want to hear it more than you have to. Humphrey itself means 'peaceful warrior', made popular by actor Humphrey Bogart.

Irene

Irene, the name of the Greek goddess of peace, spelled Eirene, had a long run of popularity -- it was in the Top 20 for ten years and stayed in the Top 100 for twenty more -- and now serene Irene has a newly nostalgic mid-century appeal.

Pax

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt named one of their sons Pax. I think any family with so many kids is going to need any source of peace they can get.

Placido

This name literally means placid. Placid is defined as not easily upset or excited. Not sure if we'd want our child to be brought into the world with such a 'neither here nor there' kind of name but it was definitely good enough for opera legend Placido Domingo.

Serenity

An obvious choice for the list, but can also be altered to mimic sporty and determined super athlete Serena Williams.

Shiloh

Brangelina's children's names are all over this list (see above: Pax). Used for both girls and boys, Shiloh, a place name mentioned several times in the Old Testament and also the site of a major Civil War battle, means ‘tranquil’.

Stellan

‘Calm’ or ‘at rest’ is the probable meaning of this Scandinavian name, which has a nice starry beginning and the popular ‘an’ ending. Jennifer Connolly and Paul Bettany used it for their son, in honor of the great Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard (pictured). It can also be shortened to Stella for a girl.

Tully

A modernised version of the noble ancient Irish name Tuathal, Tully has several meanings, one of which is ‘peaceful’. If you were a Big Brother fan last year, you'll remember Tully as the highly emotional contestant who was publicly dumped by her partner. We can only promise a peaceful name, not a peaceful life.

Winifred

A Welsh name meaning ‘blessed peacemaking’, Winifred is on the cusp of rediscovery, à la Wilhelmina and its own nicknames Winnie (recently chosen by Jimmy Fallon on its own).
