Tragic news for the family of Syrian boy Omran.

The shocking photograph of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh is the most recent iconic image to come out of the Syrian war.

And today, news of Omran’s older brother’s death lends another dimension of tragedy.

Ali Daqneesh, 10, was mortally wounded in the same attack that left Omran dazed and bloodied in the picture that swept the world earlier this week.

Have confirmed with Omar Daqneesh’s doctor, his older brother died from wounds sustained during strike that wounded Omran.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, a Syrian activist compared Omran’s photograph with Ali’s death.

“Most people will never, ever be able to grasp the true suffering of Syria,” Kenan Rahmani wrote.

“Ali is the reality: that no story in Syria has a happy ending.”
