If the Brazilian fans weren't so completely devastated, these pictures would be hilarious.

The pain. The suffering. The agony. The humiliation.

Germany has crushed Brazil in the World Cup semi-finals, and the host nation is not happy.

Germany scored four goals in seven minutes in the first half of the match – and Brazil just couldn’t catch up. They were eventually crushed 7-1.

Here’s the aftermath of the metaphorical bloodbath.

It was Brazil’s worst defeat since way back in 1920 when Uruguay beat the Brazilian team 6-0.

Overnight Australian time, Brazilian fans started booing the Germans, and some left the stadium before the game even finished – sensing their imminent and crushing defeat.

The situation turned a tad more serious as some furious fans started burning the Brazilian flag. There were fears that rioting might break out, and Brazil’s police were a visible presence in order to deter violence. German fans were told to stay in the stadium, so that they could be escorted out.

To give you an indication of just how big a deal this is, here’s a picture of Australian football player Tim Cahill looking appropriately shocked.

But his reaction was nothing compared to those seen at the stadium.
