1. An 8-year-old boy has been smuggled into Spain from Morocco – in a suitcase.

The young boy, Abou, had travelled from the Ivory Coast in a suitcase, in an attempt to enter Spain from Morocco.

Authorities discovered Abou on Thursday after having been carried by a 19-year-old woman into the Spanish enclave Ceuta, next to Morocco.

A Spanish newspaper by the name of El Pais has alleged that the 19-year-old woman is not related to the boy but was instead paid by the boys’ father to carry the suitcase.

A police spokesman told Spanish news agency Efe, “She seemed to hesitate, and it looked as though she didn’t want to come through the border.”

“At first we thought that there could be drug packages, but gradually discovered that it was a human body.”

El Pais said, Abou’s father had hoped to be reunited with his son in the Canary Islands where he now resides.

The BBC reports, when police opened the case, they found the boy in a “terrible state”.

The 8-year-old boy is in now in the care of authorities in Ceuta.

2. A sex slave has been forced to marry 20 ISIS fighters after painful surgery to ‘restore her virginity’ each time.

A United Nations official has alleged that an Islamic State terrorist group has forced a sex slave to marry up to 20 fighters.

Before each marriage the woman was forced to endure painful surgery to ‘restore her virginity’.

The UN official also said the terrorist group traded Iraqi and Syrian girls in what was known as a ‘slave bazaar’ before shipping these victims to other provinces.

The Daily Mail reports, that UN Official Zainab Bangura, travelled to five countries to interview many young girls and women who had endured brutal sexual abuse.

She said, ‘Women and girls are at risk and under assault at every point in their lives.’

‘ISIL have institutionalized sexual violence and the brutalization of women as a central aspect of their ideology and operations, using it as a tactic of terrorism to advance their key strategic objectives.’

Sadly, this is not the first instance of sexual violence by ISIS fighters to come to light.

3. UK election: David Cameron says Conservatives will form government after poll victory.

After British prime minister David Cameron’s poll victory and meeting with the Queen, it has now been confirmed that his Conservative party will form a new government.

This week, widespread predictions proved to be wrong as the Conservatives won 331 out of 650 parliamentary seats.

The ABC reports that Mr Cameron hopes to “govern with respect” and bring the country together.

He added, “We will govern as a party of one nation, one United Kingdom.”

“That means ensuring this recovery reaches all parts of our country, from north to south, from east to west and, indeed, it means rebouncing our economy, building that northern powerhouse.”

The Tory leader’s pitch to voters was that he had brought them through Britain’s economic crisis to deliver the fastest growth among major economies.

The Conservative party’s victory surpassed even the most optimistic voters projections.

4. A US father has been ordered to pay child support for only one twin after a DNA test revealed the other twin was not his.

A court-ordered DNA test filed by a man contesting child support has revealed that the man was the father of only one twin – but not the other.

America’s ABC News reports that New Jersey Superior Court Judge, Sohail Mohammad, ruled the babies had been fathered by two different men – a situation he described as rare but not without precedence.

The complicated paternity case came to light when an unnamed New Jersey woman sought child-support payments from a man she thought was the father of her daughters, who were born in January 2013.

The New Jersey Law Journal subsequently reported that, the mother who was in a relationship with the man at the time of conception, admitted to having sexual intercourse with another man in the same week.

Judge Mohammad said it was possible for a woman to have two of her eggs fertilised by two different men if she had sex with both during the same menstrual cycle. A situation which affects around one in every 13,000 paternity cases involving twins.

The judge ordered that the man must pay $28 USD per week in child support for his twin.

5. Taronga Western Plains Zoo has welcomed a baby black rhinoceros as part of its breeding program.

The latest product of Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s successful breeding project is a baby black rhinoceros.

In comparison to his 1400kg counterparts, the Daily Telegraph reports that, the pint size rhino currently weighs in at just 40kg.

The Dubbo Zoo’s general manager, Matthew Fuller said, “The newborn male black rhino is the 12th calf to be born throughout the breeding program, and will help ensure the safety of his species.”

The new member of the critically endangered species is yet to be named, but has already caught the attention of zookeepers.

Keeper Jake Williams said, “At three weeks of age, he is very confident and bold,” the Daily Telegraph reports.

“He is full of energy and likes to run flat-out around his yard first thing in the morning, sometimes venturing 15-20 metres from Bakhita [his mum] before galloping back to her.”

“He is looking very independent and a very confident male calf.”
