Sister of 11-year-old boy who drowned in stormwater drain remembers her brother.

On Thursday afternoon, 11-year-old Ryan Teasdale couldn’t be found after spending the afternoon playing with his older brother and friends. They had been sliding down a muddy hill on their bodyboards, but at 4.30pm, Ryan’s older brother became worried.

The search for Ryan continued until after midnight, and it was late on Friday morning that the search finally came to a tragic end.

Ryan had died after being sucked into a stormwater drain.

Today, Ryan’s 18-year-old sister Brooke has written a letter to her younger brother, who she remembers as “Ry-Ry.”

In the letter obtained by The Daily Telegraph, Brooke wrote, “In only 11 short years you brought so much joy into our lives, so I find myself questioning how I’m going to continue on living without you.”

“But I know that you would want me to be happy,” she wrote. “You would want all of us to be happy because that’s the type of person you are.”

“It absolutely breaks my heart to know that I’m never going to see you again.”

Brooke remembered her brother’s idiosyncrasies. “I will continue to remember you as the happy boy who always has food on his face,” she wrote. “I will treasure our silly Snapchats together, and I will never forget you.”

She also remembered his smile and caring nature. “I know that you will forever be with us, you will watch down over us and smile with that big grin of yours. I will continue to stay strong, we all will,” she said.

Ultimately, she urged the people who knew Ryan to "remember [him] as a symbol of love, and a symbol of hope. I know he is watching us right now smiling because he brought us all together. He showed us that despite the horrors of this world, there’s still good out there, and it’s everywhere."

“I love you to the moon and back, Ry-Ry," she wrote.
