A 4-year-old has been killed after a car crashed into him and two others in Melbourne.

A boy has been killed by an out-of-control 4WD that ploughed into him and parked cars at a Melbourne medical centre before flipping on its side.

The four-year-old died and a man and woman were injured when the vehicle hit them outside the Epworth Specialist Centre in Berwick about midday on Friday.

“The four wheel drive has driven through a car park and struck and killed a 4-year-old boy,” police say in a statement.

The driver of the car stopped and was speaking with police.

Ambulance Victoria said a man believed to be in his 50s was taken in a stable condition to Dandenong Hospital. A woman in her 60s suffered minor injuries and was taken to Casey Hospital.

They are not related to the boy, police said.

Photos taken at the scene show the Toyota LandCruiser on its side with a smashed windscreen, next to a number of smashed up parked cars.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, and will address the media at 3pm.
