African leaders agree to take joint action against Boko Haram.

The leaders of Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Benin have agreed at a summit in Paris today to take joint measures to overthrow Islamist group, Boko Haram.

Action to find the over 200 girls taken from Nigeria almost a month ago will include joint border controls and sharing of intelligence and information.

While the summit was conducted, Boko Haram have reportedly kidnapped 10 more girls in Northern Cameroon, and killed one Chinese road worker.

Schapelle Corby rekindles relationship with Indonesian boyfriend.

Schapelle Corby has this week been seen with Ben Panangian in Kuta, reigniting speculation the pair are in a relationship.

Corby met Panangian, a native from North Sumatra, when he was serving time for minor drug offences in Kerobokan Jail, Bali. The pair became close at this time, and he continued to visit her even after he was moved to another jail in Bali.

Corby has also been seen helping refurbish the surf shop owned by her sister Mercedes and brother-in-law Wayan Widyartha. It is believed she hopes to design swimwear and continue to work for the family business.

Titanosaur dinosaur fossils have been discovered.

Paleontologists in Argentina have discovered what they believe to be the bones of the largest dinosaur to have ever walked the earth.

The ‘Titanosaur’ is said to have lived 95 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period, and measure about forty metres from tail to head.

Jose Luis Carballido, a paleontologist from the Edigo Feruglio Museum in Trelew, believes the dinosaur weighed the size of “more than 14 African elephants”.

He has said this finding is a “true paleontological treasure,” as the remains of the dinosaur were largely all intact.

Tony Abbott does not believe there will be a double-dissolution election.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has today stated his confidence in the minor parties and Senate independents support for his federal budget. When asked if worried about a potential double-dissolution election, Mr Abbott said he expected the next election to be in 2016 as planned.

Mr Abbott also revealed to the ABC’s Insiders program that he believed he had followed through on the majority of his promises to the Australian public.

“Before the election we said we’d stop the boats, we’d scrap the carbon tax, we’d build the roads of the twenty-first century, we’d get the budget back under control…this is precisely what we’re doing”.

GP co-payment scheme receives backlash from Indigenous community.

Donna Ah Chee, the CEO of the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, has warned that the Abbott government’s $7 GP co-payment policy will have serious ramifications for the Indigenous community.

“We cannot allow this cost to pose a barrier to accessing essential healthcare services,” Ms Chee said.

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is also worried its 150 medical centres will lose their charitable status due to the co-payment policy, resulting in increased taxation payments and less funding for the services they provide.

The first MH370 theory book has been released.

The first book about missing plane MH370 will be released on Monday, 71 days after the plane was first reported as lost.

Flight MH370: The Mystery’ has been written by journalist and author Nigel Cawthorne.

In the book the author suggests that the aircraft was possibly shot down during a joint Thai-US military exercise in the South China Sea. It also suggests that the lack of wreckage found by searchers is no co-incidience, but rather the result of searchers being misled to cover up the initial mistake.

Kevin Spacey causes controversy over a political selfie.

A selfie by House of Cards star Kevin Spacey with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on May 7 has caused social media outrage.

Earlier this week speculation on the motivation behind the selfie began when Forbes blogger Dolia Estevez stated that Spacey was paid nearly $8 million for the picture by the Mexican Tourist Board.

Spacey has vehemently denied the allegations to his 3.4 million Twitter followers, stating his encounter with the President was a mere co-incidence. Fans criticised Spacey for affiliating with the President, saying it was grossly unethical to receive payments for political endorsements.
