Six foods that you can make in a blender that are actual meals.

It’s way easier than slaving away in the kitchen.

No one’s got time to slave away in the kitchen any more – there’s far too much to squeeze in to a day. But a lot of people don’t realise you can still make good food at home extremely quickly.

Blenders are not just for making green smoothies and kale infused juices – they can make a whole lot of delicious foods. Here’s six things you should put in your blender this week.

1. Delicious quiche.

It’s so unbelievably simple. Get your ingredients (eggs, salt, garlic, onions, herbs and milk) then blend. Add olive oil and blend again. Pour this mixture over cheese covered meat and vegetables – in a pie pan – bake and then eat. Sounds too easy to be true, right? But it’s not, it works.

2. Restaurant worthy salsa.

It's a recipe you can use all the time and any time. Salsa is great to dip with chips, to add to a hearty meal or to have a side with a salad. Honestly it's the most versatile dish out there. Now you can make it in a blender. There's a lot of ingredients to go in this one - tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, garlic, cumin, salt, sugar, coriander leaves, lime juice, corn and beans.

Chuck it all in a blender, whizz it around and voila. Salsa.

3. Make your own butter.

Seriously it's so much better for you and richer and creamier and brag worthy. This is the simplest recipe you'll come across. You need - wait for it - heavy cream AND salt - that's it. You blend, you drain, you blend again. Then squeeze all liquid out and rinse in cold water, squeeze again and then store in an air tight container.

4. Creamy coleslaw.

Simple, healthy and can be added as a side to most dishes. All you need is cabbage, onion, sour cream, mayonnaise, salt and mustard powder. Chop and cut what you need to get it into the blender. Put it in the blender with water on top. Drain and repeat. And you have your crowd pleasing side.

Creamy, crunchy goodness.

5. Home-made Hummus.

Healthy home made dips are so much better than store bought ones - and really aren't much harder than going to the grocery store to buy. You need chick peas, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and olive oil. Saute the onions and garlic, then add everything in to the blender. Blend. The most loved and versatile dip/spread is ready.

6. Pizza dough for a pizza base.

You need few ingredients for this one (plus the toppings of course). Pulse flour, yeast and salt. Throw them in a blender. Then add water and oil - continue to blend for a minute. Remove dough put it in a ball and grease your oven tray. Then stretch the dough, add toppings, cook and bring Italy to your table.
