"I wore this $19 lip mask all day at work and none of my colleagues even noticed. Score."

I am an evil genius. A diabolical mastermind, if you will.

Because all day, my colleagues thought I was just wearing the perfect pinky nude lip gloss. I wasn’t though. Silly colleagues.

Little did they know I was actually donning a lip mask, hydrating and plumping my crusty lips right under their noses.

That’s the genius of the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask. It doesn’t look like a lip mask.

Rather than sitting on top of your lips like a big blob of wet sugar, this sneaky product hides in plain sight as an everday lip gloss.

The $19 multitasker promises to “improve the texture of lips so that they’re more hydrated, healthier-looking, soothed, and softer feeling” and has the ingredients to back it up.

Infused with organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, trusty lanolin and triple the amount of the antioxidants found in red wine, this mask/gloss hybrid will breathe life into your dry lips.

After a day of wearing the lip mask (I reapplied frequently as I would any lip gloss or balm), my lips did feel that bit smoother.

The texture is slightly thicker than your average gloss, but not in a sticky way. Its paraben, sulfate and phthalate-free formula doesn’t have granules or exfoliating beads like most lip masks do –  it works by deeply hydrating rather than sloughing skin away.

You’ll feel it tingle slightly (not as much as a lip plumper), that’s how you know it’s doing something.

As someone who feels naked without a bold colour on her lips, wearing the champagne tint was a challenge for me. But I know my red lip is going to look infinitely better tomorrow thanks to today’s prep work.

Side note… the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask also tastes fruity which is a plus because any lip gloss fan will know they’ve likely eaten hundreds of tubes of the stuff in their lifetime.

And considering incorporating the magic of face masks into your routine means carving out time to look like a serial killer in private each week, this lip mask is so time efficient. You can walk around wearing it in your day-to-day life with the smug look on your face of a person with a secret.

Chances are you won’t be able to keep it a secret for long though.

The allure of telling your work wife about finding a cool thing before she did will likely be too strong to resist.

The Bite Agave Lip Mask is $18.99. Have you tried lip masks before? Do you think they work?
