Biggest Loser Rachel Frederickson was crowned the winner of the US series last night, shedding a shocking 72 kgs to drop down to her now 47kg build. The 24-year-old, who was awarded $250,000 in prize money, has been the subject of harsh criticism since the series finale broadcast last night. Audiences took to social media, attacking her ‘skeletal’ body and claiming that she now looks anorexic.
Mother ordered to prove her son is dying
Andrea Rediske, the mother of disabled boy Ethan, has been told she must prove her son is dying if he is to be exempt from taking a state-mandated standardised test. The 11-year-old from Florida, who is in an induced coma and has been told he could die any day suffers from cerebral palsy, brain damage and is blind.
10 yr-old removed from drug house
A drug raid on a property in the Blue Mountains, which uncovered $470,000 worth of cannabis, has resulted in the discovery of a 10-year-old boy. The child was taken in by police who are now working to find somewhere suitable for the boy to live. Eleven arrests were made during the raids on five homes in the area where heroin, cocaine and amphetamines were also found.
Winter Olympics disaster
Journalists worldwide are doing their best to make light of the disastrous conditions in Sochi for the upcoming Winter Olympics, which start tomorrow. Many have been tweeting humorous images of their rundown hotel rooms and signs in hallways heralding warnings for hazardous substances in the water.
Schappelle's lawyer makes drug joke on TV
Schappelle Corby's former lawyer, Kerry Smith-Douglas, has appeared on television this morning, making light of Corby's drug conviction in a bizarre interview on the Today Show. Just days before Schapelle could be released from a Balinese jail, Kerry has commented that Corby will be celebrating with a 'big marijuana joint.'
