The Biggest Loser is coming back, but two of its biggest stars aren't coming along with it.

Network Ten has announced the Biggest Loser will be returning to our screens in 2017, but it’s coming back without two of its biggest stars at the helm.

Michelle Bridges and The Commando have decided not to return to the cast The Biggest Loser: Transformed, leaving the show without two of the most recognisable faces in the fitness industry for its 11th season.

Instead, leading trainer Shannan Ponton will be joined by Sydney-based trainer Libby Babet, the founder fitness group BUF girls, a team “committed helping women and girls of all ages fall in love with fitness,” according to their website.

In a post on Instagram, Babet confirmed her spot on the show, writing that she is looking forward to adding a a fresh face to the lineup.

I’m so excited to be stepping up as a trainer alongside the legend @shannanponton on the all new version of The Biggest Loser: Transformed, with the gorgeous @fionafalkiner returning to host. The show’s return comes after it was rested this year following two disappointing seasons that failed to have an impact on ratings. The newest season will have a more educational focus, with a greater desire for those playing along at home to understand what really goes into the nutrition and training of such remarkable weight loss stories.

The push for a return to the show’s roots was sparked, in some part, by Ponton’s public claims that it is important for the show to retain it’s educational focus.

“People want to understand what the contestants eat and how they train to get such amazing results and I just don’t think we saw enough this year of what went into the mix,” he told Mumbrella last year.

Both Michelle Bridges and the Commando originally joined Ponton on the show for its second season in 2007. In 2013, the duo announced they were in a relationship and they welcomed their first child, a son named Axel, last year.
