Best and worst of the week!

Photo by John James’ darling partner!

Another week has been left behind us and, around Mamamia at least, it’s been a maelstrom of show preparation, posts and … so much else.

Is it just me or do these things fly by even quicker these days?

Well, enough of that, let’s move on to the bests and worsts of the week.

Best: I went and saw a comedian called Sam Simmons at The Factory in Sydney on Wednesday night. He came highly recommended (indeed, he’s won the best show awards at many of the circuit festivals) and holy wow he did not disappoint. Funny, crass in places (let’s be honest, kind of my thing) but entirely unique. I listen to a lot of comedy and I’ve not seen or heard anything like it. And, to be frank, any show that includes a self-righteous, life-affirming puppet Llama called Horhay (not sure of the spelling) is alright in my books.

Worst: Waiting for my tax to come back. I don’t have a credit card (because I am a numpty who has shunned most normal accoutrements of modern living that help me in any way) and I was running desperately low on funds after my America trip. Budgeting? Also something I don’t do well. I am literally a gourmet tuna and pasta chef, however, so, silver lining and all that.

OMM: The Mamamia Reader picnic! Two of our Sydney readers (and regular commenters) John James and Miss T  joined superior organising forces and created a get together in the park for anyone who was in the area. It wasn’t an official party but they were nice enough to invite us. Nat and I went along after a rainy morning and a fight with a parking ticket machine and ate ridiculous amounts of rainbow coloured cake. I snuck along a couple of bottles of Riccadonna Allegra (they did a sponsored post with us and I purloined the drinks) and we had ourselves a right merry time. Seriously, how good is sunshine?

How has your week been? What were the best and worst bits?
