To be fair, it’s not always easy to work out what sports stars are saying.
They’ve got mouth guards and helmets and orange slices – and we’re all the way up in the stands.
But the people at Bad Lip Reading have helped us out with an insight into what athletes are actually saying.

In this case, it’s American NFL players, but I think we could fairly extend that to all footy players. That sounds fun, right?
So what do they really say to each other on the field? Something inspirational? Something menacing?
Not really.
It turns out that sometimes they just really want to eat sticks.
