Final proof that you don’t need to be 20 to look great in your undies
Youth clothing company American Apparel has unveiled their latest publicity stunt, a 62-year-old lingerie model named Jackie O’Shaughnessy. The company is famous for attracting headlines with stunts like this but there’s no denying that Jackie is a woman who still has it going on. In fact, we’d go so far as to say she’s aspirational.
We know, we know, beauty comes from the inside, but there's just something about seeing a 62-year-old model who defies the constraints of how society thinks she should look. She's wearing bright red lipstick, has long flowing hair and looks peaceful and content. It would be great to look as good as she does at 62 but it would be much better to feel as peaceful and content as she looks.
American Apparel introduced Jackie to their 1.5 million Facebook fans. She was signed to the company two years ago but this is her first lingerie shoot.
Jackie told Fashionista she was discovered on a New York street by a talent scout when she was 60. The scout called her 'regal', even though Jackie was smoking a cigarette at the time. "I said, 'Well, I don't think most people would agree with you these days.' And she answered, 'It's not the cigarette. You're just beautiful,'" O'Shaughnessy said.
Previous stunts by American Apparel include mannequins with pubic hair and t-shirts showing menstruation.
If this is just a stunt we have to say we still think it's pretty awesome and we are huge Jackie fans.
