Perth woman given 20 demerit points in less than two hours over long weekend.

By Nicolas Perpitch

A Perth woman has been given 20 demerit points in less than two hours after twice being caught driving while using a mobile phone.

Cottesloe police last night tweeted that the 44-year-old from Parkwood was first stopped as she was driving through Claremont while using a phone and with no seat belt on.

It is a double-demerit long weekend in Western Australia, so she was given a $900 fine and 14 demerit points.

An hour-and-a-half later, she was again caught in Claremont driving with a mobile.

This time she was given six demerit points and was issued a $400 fine.

Double demerits apply until today for using a mobile while driving, drink or drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and a child restraint, and speeding and running a red light.
