This made me teary.

If you would like to help name the baby elephant (Coco's suggestions are Rhapsody and Harmony – she is refusing to accept that said baby elephant is a boy) or know more about him, you can go here.

Okay here’s a suggestion. It’s the name that our six year old thinks we should call our next baby (which I have no plans to ever have!). Wait for it….

    Septimus Brutus

He thinks it would suit a boy or a girl!

Hopee- I remember that too! The media were pretty against bringing them over here.
I must admit I don’t like seeing animals in zoos, but these elephants are endangered so any sort of breeding network they have set up for them I think is great!

I am so glad that the elephants are breeding at taronga (there are two others that are expecting in 2010 and 2011 – 22 month gestation, ouch!) If I remember correctly, it was to quite some controversy that these elephants were bought to Australia, with many interest groups protesting the fact that they were removed from thier homes in Thailand. However, the fact that they are breeding suggests that they are happy. This is a good thing.

I also remember that the media was all over the controversy.. DONT BRING THEM HERE!, and now, they are all like, aww, so cute. I wish they would get their stories straight and stick to their guns…

    ok, rant over
