The labia prom dress.
Do you like this story?
I can't quite believe I just typed those words into the headline of a post. Having your own blog is nothing if not exhilarating. The internets, they be buzzin' with comment about this frock. It's from a prom dress company called – are you ready – Light In The Box. Since the pic went viral, the company has since photoshopped the shot to remove the, er, satin vagina at the front.
More sales that way I guess, go figure. Why would you not want to wear a giant pink labia to your prom I do not know.

You can see the new dress here in its entirety but it's not nearly as amusing as the original…..

i don’t get it
why would u want a dress that looks like a vagina??
and i can’t see how the dress looks like a vagina anyway

HAHA the song ‘read my lips’ comes to mind

Oh, and it has just occurred to me – this could pass as a costume in some sort of feminist performance art. Don’t change the dress, just market it to a different female demographic.

This just confirms my suspicion of special event apparel.

Found again via twitter and I just had to come and have a look. Thanks for the posts always interesting to say the least.

Both designs are vile.

Using clothing or accessories to suggest sexuality is not new…think of the Geisha’s and the way they used to shape their hair in the “split peach” style that suggested a labia.
What this dress lacks is subtlety…though it certainly makes up for subtlety with a certain ick factor.
Overall I think it is pretty funny…not something I would pick to wear but funny nonetheless!

Obviously done for publicity for the designer. Stupid and blah…

This is poorly designed, even if it is flamenco influenced, they could have positioned it somewhere other than on top of her privates.
P.S I’m absolutely loving your twittering today, Mia! xo

It’s hideous in every way !!! nothing could save that dress except …. well, nothing could save that dress!
Imagine if your daughter came home excited to show you the dress she had picked for her formal and it was that !!! hahahahahhaha

Judy, if you click the “remember personal info” box under the information, it will remember info – as long as you’re using the same computer, and you have cookies enabled, you shouldn’t have to type the stuff in each time.

I actually dont mind it. It’s only because it’s pink that you’d think that – if it were blue or green or orange you wouldn’t think that was a ….. vajayjay, I’d wear it!

If you don’t THINK labia, it’s kind of flamenco influenced, and not that bad. It’s the color of the lining fabric that “does it”, also the positioning and proportion of the top ruffle. It’s definitely a frock for a slim girl, as the style wouldn’t translate well on a more Rubenesque figure.
I still prefer it without the labia, but agree it’s not the world’s most pretty posh frock!
By the way, it’s a real drag having to type in about 5 million letters and numbers into the URL box in order to put up a post. Is there some way the regulars register, and only have to use a password or something? I’ve tooled around the Mamamia site, but haven’t worked out how they do it. Help please????
