At what point does it become kinda sad? Oh wait. We passed that point way back yonder.

Racy Madonna Promos for Hard Candy | madonna

Here is Madonna posing – sigh – for more promotional shots for her Hard Candy album. They look a little like disposible undies to me. At this point? I think there would be more interest and shock value to seeing her clothed.

Um Mia, how about joining the sister hood and easing off on Madonna. She is a 51 year old woman.

She still chooses to work. Is she not allowed to do what she enjoys? Is she too old? Do you think she has to stop working in her “chosen field” because she has wrinkles or fat rolls.

Your attitude towards her is a bit like the attitudes of men in the sixties, who felt that women had to quit their office jobs when they got married.

    This woman makes me ill.
It’s not about whether it’s appropriate for a woman that age to dress that way or not, Madonna has a good body, but it’s such a shameless grab for attention and is so constant that it’s become completely tiresome.

Eva, Madonna is about as “real” as Joan Rivers. And as for the question, “Why do we worship young bodies?”…it would seem to me that Madonna is more guilty of this than anyone who has posted a comment here. With all the work she has had done, I would guess that about half her body is less than 20 years old anyway.

JEALOUS anyone? Sounds like it to me. I would like to see any of you with your undies on…. why can’t women still be sexy at 50. Madonna is real. She is an dancer…lets see some ballerinas over 50….would you be slagging them off if they appeared in their leotards?…I think not! Why do we worship young bodies? All bodies need to be respected and applauded….I am quite disappointed with all of you, and as for Victoria Beckham??? excuse me…she represents eating disorders. Madonna is fit, healthy and spiritual….. so, she doesn’t look like you all want her to look?….I am very sad for all of you…..this is “girl power” at its worst.

I’m all about mature women showing that you can still be sexy past age 25, but seriously? These photos would be a lot hotter if she weren’t 90% plastic and silicone.

  6. I question why Madge feels the need to do an endless parade of these kind of shots. It’s sad. Do I find them disgusting or inappropriate for her age? Not really. I think it all depends on what you feel comfortable with. I have a friend who says you shouldn’t show cleavage after 40, which I completely disagree with. If you got it, then you’re entitled to flaunt it, and Helen Mirren is a perfect case of how you can showcase your boobs and be sexy post 60.
Personal style is just that, personal. I wouldn’t do shots like this, but I’m not a mega star who’s trying to keep herself youthful and relevant in the music industry. I imagine it’s very hard for a woman to age in pop. Remember Cher? She did this stuff too.

Ha! But I did comment, in a second hand sort of way….not very perspicacious of you, over yonder, was it?

I have nothing to say about these shots.
But Mia, I am loving the use of the word Yonder!

Good call, Jaz, how perspicacious of you…
(yeak OK, I wanted to use that word somewhere, but good call anyway)

Yep. Madge, it’s time to put it away.
Without the try-hard, almost naked posing you’re probably still a super fun chick who is young at heart, ultra intelligent and looks great (I repeat: with clothes on).

When does it become kinda sad? I would say in Madonna’s case about age 45 Mia!!
Madonna used to push boundaries but this is just yet another scantily clad shot. Its boring and its sad she feels she needs to keep doing this kind of thing.

lol, I was just thinking that too, Leah. There was a post on Dlisted…yea, thanks Mia…I’m now hooked as well… about an old photo that was being auctioned at Christie’s. It was a nude of Madonna when she was young and poor in NYC… she was quite….well, Welcome to the Jungle comes to mind

Oh my god. I don’t mind Madonna, and I often stick up for her a bit, but for god’s sake, Madge! Give me something to work with! Definately looking more like ‘The Mummy’ than a mummy here. I’m so not getting this ‘post surgery bandage chic’! And what’s the message here? ‘It took me so long to trowel on my make-up and tie up my shoes, I was too tired to dress myself’? And BTW, I think Madge might be a ‘bare down there’ girl. Just a hunch.

  17. Jaz says:

Ah Madonna, the so-called Queen of Pop…the woman who likes to put across the image that she is a confident strong woman.
Can anyone else see through this facade?
Here is a woman that cant accept being older, who wastes so much time and energy on looking like she did when she was 20yrs old.
How is she gonna look when she is 80yrs old? When is she going to face the fact that she getting older and that it is okay to get old? Its normal, natural, beautiful..
I think she is one scared woman. Her whole life has been about pushing boundaries, shocking everyone, being the centre of attention and being heard. This is a woman crying out for unconditional love.

oh dear, that nipple is staring at me…. but how uncomfortable does the whole outfit look! Its almost as if someone’s collected assorted pieces of toilet paper and stapled it to her body. gross.

Hmmm .. I thought these photos were intended for the Hard Candy album but were disgarded, for obvious reasons .. I think they’ve been leaked. They’re not good are they ? Funnily enough, the thing that bothers me the most is the twisted sides of the G.

ugh… just, UGH! I’m sorry I can’t contribute anything more, but I’m just at a loss. It’s all been said, and you’re absolutely right – I’m just sad for her.

Do I spy a nip slip in the second photo? Eep!
It’s great that a more mature woman can still be sexy and powerful and whatnot, but… sometimes it’s nice to embrace your age and gracefully let your youth go.

  24. Judy says:

Compare Madonna to Victoria B, and this here is just utterly tasteless. It’s almost like porn, and not remotely attractive. Whereas Victoria looked beautiful, feminine and elegant in her undies, Madonna looks like crap.
She needs a stylist for both her wardrobe and her mindset, right now. Urgently.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m too young. BUT I just don’t get Madonna.
