French first lady , former supermodel and talented musician (I have both her albums, waiting on the third to be released) Carla Sarkozy has revealed she had "about 15" lovers before marrying the French president.

She says in actuality she has had 15 lovers.Before
marrying 53-year-old President Nicolas Sarkozy in February, Bruni dated
a number of high-profile celebrities, including rockers Mick Jagger and
Eric Clapton.
So. Given that the woman is 40 years old and divorced with a child, is 15 a lot, a little or just right?

i don’t think 15 is a lot, especially for someone her age.
im 22 and ive had 5. compared to a lot of my friends its not many but the last three have been within the last five months (newly single). i dont think the number is important as long as you’re being safe.

lol, I saw the topic and thought “yawn” but the discussion is so entertaining! I am a bit skeptical about a number like 15, all things considered – but then, who knows a person?
Honestly, I think she should have never put a number out there at all. Just said the lyric was creative license and that her true number of lovers is her business only…. after all, as Vixen says, who the hell cares???

My number is 8 (I think) but I settled down at 22.
As Numberchick said, if I was single it would be a lot more. Especially as I have aged and become more confident.
I’d be more inclined to think Carla’s number would be more like 30 but she’s not going to put a large number out there and take the backlash is she? She is the presidents wife.

Hmm, I’m also not sure I believe 15. 30 maybe, though I probably expected more. I think it’s not how many lovers a person has that’s relevant, but how they treat themselves and others. If a man or woman has slept with 100 people, but they do it from a place of enjoyment, respect and connection, rather than self debasement, manipulation, desperation for love etc, then I say good on you. Bonk it up and be happy.
If it works for you to only be with one person you hole life than that’s all good too. It’s the attitude behind it that counts.
I’ve slept with somewhere between 15 and 20. I forget exactly because it all seems so long ago now. I’m 37 and been married 10 years. I don’t think this is either too many or not enough. It just was.

I don’t think 15 is alot at all.
Think about it – say she started at 18. That’s one every 1.4 years – about a new man every 16 months til she’s 40. Break it down like that and I don’t think that’s an exhorbitant number.

I don’t think 15 for any 40 yr old is a high number, let alone a gorgeous model who has mixed with famous people and I’m assuming was hit on every time she went out (particularly in her ‘prime’)
My sex ‘stats’, age and current situation is very similiar to kate’s above.
I have female friends that sit within the whole spectrum of the numbers scale, one who two who married their high school sweethearts and haven’t been with any one else and another that is a younger, sexier version of Samantha from Sex in the City. They are all honestly happy within their choices and that’s the main thing.
As for men, generally speaking i feel the same way about ‘stats’ for men, except for that small percentage of horrible men who sleep with women like they are in training for the Olympics and think other guys will award them the ‘biggest stud’ award for sleazy around and ‘bedding’ hundreds of women. They receipt the full brunt of my judgements and often (if they brag in earshot of me) get a verbal version of my opinion as well.

30? Sounds about smack bang on for a 40-odd supermodel with taste (not including the forgettables as NumberChick would call them). Serious;y, I am 34 year old mother of 1, married for 2 yrs, relationships for six of the last 10 and still I manage to rack up 11 ‘lovers’. And I still wish I had had a bit more experience. 30 sounds downright respectable (dare I say unbelievable). And as Cath says – would we ask the question/give a sh*t about the number if it was a man?

I can’t help thinking Carla might have been taking a little ‘poetic license’ with this number, in fact! She’s 40, and has been one of the world’s most superfabulous model / muso types for quite a while. Regardless of her past, or current situation, 15 is certainly not a lot. In face, even if the lyrics of her song, in which she makes reference to her ’30 lovers’, were true, I probably wouldn’t think that were a lot, either.
I also read that (in response to this) Whoopi Goldberg stated that she’s had 50 lovers – all ‘the best she’s ever had!’. Whoopi’s a mature lady, who hasn’t had that many long term relationships, so again, in the context of a rich, and very interesting life – not that many!
And by the way, if the question were asked of a male muso or actor of the same ages as Carla, or Whoopi, and they stated that they’d had 15, 30, or 50 lovers – we’d all know it was bullshit! But of course, the question wouldn’t be asked.

I keep getting the same number, 8, but can’t help thinking there must be some I’ve forgotten about, mainly because they were errrrrr forgettable. Mind you, being in my early 30s and married for going on 11 years changes things – if I were single the number would be considerably more than 8 I’m sure!! So, no 15 is not alot in reality.

I’ve only had 6 lovers in my 30 odd years, but I still don’t think 15 is a lot (for her). If I had been a supermodel in the 80′s and 90′s, with a jetset lifestyle and the opportunity to bonk famous, gorgeous men (or women), I’d probably rack them up too! haha!
