The nine wackiest wedding dress trends to come out of Bridal Fashion Week.

If you thought opting for blush or cream rather than traditional white for a wedding dress was ~ off the wall ~, wait until you see these.

It was gowns galore last week in New York for Bridal Fashion Week, but not all were what you’d call conventional.

In fact, some of the trends on the runway were downright wacky. If you dare…

1. Hats on steroids.

Forget a veil – this floppy summer hat from Alon Livne is far more dramatic. Oh, and sun safe too.

2.  Beyond thigh high.

Here’s a sentence we never thought we’d be saying – side vag wedding dresses are BIG this season. No longer daring enough to flash some thigh, Alon Livne showed gowns with splits so high you’ll need your own personal decency spotter.

3. Knee high boots.

Step away Cinderella-style slippers, it’s all about kinky boots this season at Naeem Khan.

4. Capes.

Because everyone knows an outfit that includes a cape is infinitely cooler - and bonus points for on your wedding day. Mark Zunino for Kleinfeld.

5. Walking on sunshine.

Ditching white for colour on your wedding day is gaining traction, and sunshine yellow as seen at Naeem Kahn is certainly a bold choice.

6. Dare to bare.

The biggest trend across the bridal shows? The sheerer the better.

8. Flares.

While swapping a skirt for pants isn't entirely new territory, we bet not many brides have done so in a tie dye pattern like this outfit from Malan Breton.

9. Long and short.

Not only does this Ines Di Santo number have a mullet skirt, it's actually over a playsuit rather than a mini dress. Dramatic, unexpected and totally fabulous.
