These tweets about 2016 might be the only good thing to come out of it.

Do you remember the morning of January 1, 2016?

The unsullied sense of optimism you felt pulling back your blinds for the first time to blink into the rising sun of a new year?

No? Of course you don’t. Because it’s been crushed out of you – repeatedly – by one of the most unrelenting year’s since records began.

First, we lost Bowie. Then Brexit happened.

Then the nation’s heart was broken along with Nikki Gogan‘s on The Bachelor.

It healed for a moment as as Matty J fell hard on The Bachelorette…

AND THEN THIS HAPPENED:

2016, you're killing us (literally).

Prince and Leonard Cohen died, along with our dreams for marriage equality.

And then - before we'd barely begun to wear in our pantsuits - we were thrown headfirst into the midst of the Trumpocalypse.

Exhausted? You're not alone.

In fact, so many people are JUST SO DONE with 2016, they've taken respite in the only place they can: social media.

Because in these darkest of times, honestly all you can do it laugh. Probably at memes.

Here are few that have really captured the global mood this week:

Oh well, there's always next y-OH GOD NO.

(Can't wait.)
