1. The baby of a pregnant woman who chased down thieves at the Easter Show only to fall on her stomach and go into labour is reportedly doing well. Thirty-two-year-old Jane Timson was 34 weeks pregnant when the 18-year-old thief stole around $10,000 worth of tickets from the ride her husband works on at the Easter Show. Ms Timson chased the man, but tripped and fell. Roman Jones was born just a short time after at Westmead hospital.

2. A new survey has found almost one third of male Facebook users alter their photos before posting them online. The research from Snappit.com also found that 26 per cent of women Photoshop their images before they go public. The survey also revealed that at least a quarter of men and women post unflattering photos of their friends – as long as they themselves look good in the shots.

3. US President Barack Obama is reportedly set to announce 55-year-old Caroline Kennedy as the new US Ambassador to Japan. Caroline is the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy. But the possible appointment has sparked debate with many people critical of Kennedy’s lack of experience in government or business.

4. Photographs taken four months ago of the wall that collapsed in Melbourne last week and killed two people show significant cracks that would have made the wall unstable. The photos were taken on December 12 (you can see them here.) An engineer from Monash University told News Limited: “That picture tells us a lot about the wall. The wall as a whole was under sheer failure, this renders the wall unable to resist wind loads.”

5. Cyprus has formally accepted a $13 billion international bailout. The International Monetary Fund’s managing director, Christine Lagarde said the IMF would contribute $1 billion and the rest will come from other Euro Zone countries.

6. After a week in hospital being treated for pneumonia, former South African president Nelson Mandela is reportedly doing “better”. A statement from South Africa’s current president Jacob Zuma said: “His doctors say he continues to respond satisfactorily to treatment and is much better now than he was when he was admitted to hospital on the 27th of March 2013”.
