Miranda Kerr's mum has launched a skincare line in direct competition with her daughter's.

In 2013, when asked whether she would ever diversify her Divine by Therese Kerr brand into skincare, Therese Kerr‘s answer was a hard no.

“I would never do anything to compete with [Miranda] because that’s just not who we are as a family.”

However, it seems the model’s mum is now going back on her word, with her company launching a skincare range to be sold at David Jones alongside Miranda Kerr‘s Kora Organics range.

Therese insists the two brands will not be in competition with one another, instead describing the Divine by Therese Kerr products as “complementary” to Kora Organics.

However, the description of “age defying, certified organic, Australian-made skincare” is setting off a few alarm bells for those familiar with Miranda’s Kora Organic range, which is also organic, Australian-made and purports to “revitalise and regenerate skin”.

While Therese’s brand was originally limited to products like self-tanning lotion and handwash, the new range from Divine by Therese Kerr will include face cleanser, toner and serum – just like Kora Organics.

Although the move could just be a coincidence, many fans of Miranda’s speculate it’s anything but – and that Therese has been preparing to launch a competitor line of skincare since being ousted from her position as General Manager of Kora Organics in 2013.

Neither Miranda nor Therese has ever publicly confirmed Therese’s departure from the company was caused by a rift between mother and daughter, although speculation was rife at the time.

Miranda is yet to comment on her mother’s new business venture.
